I have an excuse. The first time we met, we were talking about PDA's and the new cool gadgets. Sooo I have an excuse!! ha ha!!

Personally I think you have a choice to give out your personal phone # or not. Thus you have option to monitor your PDA or not.

I think a new fad that is starting is having 2 phone. One for business, one for personal.

I never give my office my phone # because I don't want them to bother me. I go there to work, then I go home to live my personal life. Even though my personal life is all over the internet.

Although, I constantly check my personal PDA so I can communicate with friends to see if they want to meet up with me somewhere...

In conclusion, there is a time and place.

Jeff, thanks for your comment and we agree with you 100%!

Keith, you bring up a very good point and you are absolutely correct that if you give your guest a heads up beforehand, then it is not rude to tend to important business. Thanks for sharing!

I don't think there is anything wrong with taking an important phone call, or answering an important e-mail during a lunch meeting, as long as you tell the person you are meeting up front that you will need to do this. Most people will be very understanding about this.

This is a huge pet peeve for me! I can't stand it when someone is talking to me, yet their eyes keep shifting to that blackberry the whole time. It's just like talking to a person who, instead of looking at you, is constantly checking the room...for what? Someone better to talk to? Like you've said here, give your FULL attention to the person you are talking to, and check your email afterwards.
