What do you think of when you see or hear the letters “PR”? Most people, especially those in the business world, immediately think “public relations”.

At his seminars, Jason leads people through this exercise. By thinking about all the possible meanings for the letters “PR”, you can begin to see all of the things that go into keeping a promise.

Jason says that the accounting process isn’t just applicable to money. Think about:

1. your inventory: Make a list of the commitments you’ve already made.
2. your balance: Do you have time to say “yes” to this?
3. your savings: How will saying “yes” or “no” impact your relationship?

Practice saying “No” to small things so you know how to do it when something bigger comes along. A lot of people wait until they are overwhelmed. Then they respond – often poorly – out of frustration.

Finally, Jason asserts that the single best thing a mentor can do is to teach their mentee to ask for help. It keeps the promise-keeping process going!
