Knowledge Does Not Lead to Success

knowledgeKnowledge is power.

Bull! Knowledge is useless in and of itself.

Go to school. Get good grades. And the world will open its door to you.

Wrong again! School is just the starting point of learning.

These myths were debunked years ago by Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich. He said that general knowledge is of little importance to BIGG success.

Okay, he didn’t say BIGG success. And he didn’t spell “BIGG” the right way, like we do.

BIGG success is life on your own terms. If getting rich is part of your definition of BIGG success, you have to understand that wealth isn’t created by general knowledge.

Yet most people think it is. It’s what we’re told all our lives.

It doesn’t mean going to school and learning is a waste of time. It’s not.

It creates a foundation. But it’s not enough if you want to be a BIGG success.

To accumulate riches, knowledge must be directed, organized, and applied.

Directed knowledge

You must take what you know and learn and apply it to a destination. Where do you want to end up?

Organized knowledge

Once you have directed your knowledge, you must organize it into specific plans of action. What is your strategy for getting where you want to go?

Applied knowledge

Finally, once you know where you’re going and you know how you plan to get there, it’s time to go.

All the knowledge in the world, all the direction, and all the organization does you no good unless it’s applied. Take action for BIGG success!

The Most Important Intelligence Today

locational intelligence | BIGG SuccessIn Chapter 5 of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill told us about the time Henry Ford sued The Chicago Tribune. The Tribune had published several editorials claiming Ford was ignorant.

For the most part, they were right.

The attorneys for The Tribune couldn’t wait to get Henry Ford on the stand. They would get their proof, straight from the horseless carriage industrialist’s mouth!

Ford’s apparent ignorance

Ford was asked about the date of the Revolutionary War. He didn’t know the answer.

When asked who Benedict Arnold was, Ford said, “A writer.”

Ford thought “chili con carne” was a large Army.

Ford’s response

Finally, according to Napoleon Hill, Ford grew so irritated with the questioning, he learned forward and said:

“If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY should I clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?”

Who can argue with that?

Locational intelligence

The most important intelligence today is locational intelligence. Where can you find the information you need?

It turns out it’s not so new. Henry Ford used locational intelligence to become one of the wealthiest people in the history of our country.

He understood the two sources of locational intelligence:

  • Tools

In Ford’s case, it was the phone – a tool that had been invented about four decades before the trial in which he referenced it.

Today, we have the vast resource of the internet, which was invented about four decades ago.

  • People

Ford also had people in his employ who could give him the answers to important questions. Today, we also have social networks where we can meet people we would never get to know otherwise.

Henry Ford would love to build a business today. Like him, you can use the tools of the day to get the information you need from the people who have it.

It’s locational intelligence. And it leads to BIGG success!

We may not be that smart, but we’re smart enough to be thankful that you read our post today. Until next time, here’s to your BIGG success!
