The 3 Rs of Bigg Success – Part 2

Back-to-SchoolIt’s Back-to-School time and we’re in the middle of a ten-part series on lifelong learning. We’ve talked about the 3 R’s we learned in school and how they apply to our lives now.

Last time, we started the 3 R’s of bigg success by talking about the 1st R – responsibility. Now we want to talk about the 2nd R – resiliency.

___

Play

___

We always knew how important it was to be resilient. However, the events of the past year or so have highlighted why it’s vital that we are able to bounce back.

One of the things we know for sure is that there will be surprises on the path to bigg success. That’s when you have to dig deep to find your ability to press on.

The difference between a promise and a commitment

___

georgeI’m admittedly going back a few years here. I remember a banquet from high school. Our football team had a very successful year. The quote behind the dais said, “Losers make promises, Winners make commitments.” There’s a fine line between those two terms.

___

___

marylynnPromises are a declaration of what you will do. We’re told to keep our promises. Of course, we should. But that quote, George, highlights how you keep promises. You make a commitment to make them so.

___

When you do that, you have an emotional stake in the promise. You’re not just saying it. You will do it one way or another.

That’s the bigg goal-getters mindset. That’s the mindset of people who will reach bigg success in times like the ones we’re living through.

5 ways to become more resilient

Change is occurring at a rate we’ve never seen before. One of the things that we can count on in the future is that things will keep changing.

Resiliency is a critical trait for bigg success. Here are five ways to become more resilient:

  • Develop a will do attitude.

We used to say “can do” but the term “can” isn’t strong enough. Try this: Say “I can succeed bigg.” Now try it this way: “I will succeed bigg!” Do you see the difference? A will-do mindset empowers you. Believe in yourself completely.

  • Become flexible.

Rigidity isn’t one of the 3 R’s of bigg success! It works against bigg success these days. Things change quickly, which makes the future difficult to predict. Learn and adapt. It’s critical to bigg success.

  • Develop a problem-solving process.

Check out our post called SOLVE IT where we map out such a system. And take a note from the Chinese: Put all your problems in a box and pull them out one at a time when you’re ready to deal with them.

  • Summon strength.

Different people do this in different ways. Your strength may come from inside yourself. It may come from meditation or prayer. It may come from people who care about you. It may come from a combination of all of these. It doesn’t matter where you get it, but find mental, emotional and spiritual strength.

  • Focus.

Focus on what you can control, not what you can’t. Focus on who you can influence, not who you can’t. Focus on the most important thing you for you to accomplish next for your bigg success.

___

Don’t miss the party! Trust Agents is flying off the shelves. It’s the one book you must read this year.

___

Thank you so much for the gift of your time today. Please join us next time as we discuss the 3rd R of bigg success – relationships. Until then, here’s to your bigg success!

Artificial Dissemination – 3 Dangers

lieWe value honesty and integrity. We’re taught to tell the truth. Yet when we’re tested in the real world, sometimes we use artificial dissemination.

___

Play

___

A friend of one of our friends lied on his resume. He said he had graduated from college. The company found out that, while he was close, he hadn’t actually done all of the work to earn his degree. They fired him.

That’s one of the dangers of artificial dissemination. It can come back and bite you.

___

george My dad used to say, “Son, always tell the truth. Then you won’t have to try to remember what you said.”

___

___

marylynn
I understand his point. One lie often leads to another.

___

Have you ever met someone who you came to know better over time? At some point, you realize they’re just full of bull caca. But what comes next is even more amazing …

You realize that they’ve told that old story so many times that they actually think it’s true themselves!

That’s the second danger of artificial dissemination: you start to believe it yourself.

___

The next form of artificial dissemination is more subtle. In most cases it’s not an outright lie. It usually doesn’t start out as artificial dissemination.

Instead, it’s a failure to deliver on promises.

This can take two forms:

First, it may result from over-promising. Hyperbole, even (think Snagglepuss)!

___

marylynnIt’s important to be excited about what you do, but sometimes in our excitement … we overstate how well we do it!

___

___

george Or we over-commit. And I know whereof I speak. I came by this one honestly because my Dad was the same way. Do you ever think you’ve suddenly been turned into some sort of super human who can do way more than you, the human, can actually get done? You stuff your schedule full and then … oh,oh … there’s no way you’re going to get it all done.

___

It’s an honest mistake, but it has the same result. Artificial dissemination.

Second, we may not follow up. There are a number of reasons this may happen. It may be what we just said … we over-committed upfront.

It could be that we’re not organized. We need to record the promises we make. Then we need to schedule whatever actions are necessary to follow-up within the time we promised. We need a system!

Because without a system, we forget. Or we never get around to doing the things needed to deliver on our promise. And the result is the same …

It’s the third danger of artificial dissemination: people stop trusting you.

We’ll stop here for now … please join us next time when we’ll look at the other side of artificial dissemination. And this may surprise you. We’ll tell you how to use it as a tool for your bigg success!

Thank you so much for checking in with us today. We really appreciate it and that’s no lie! Until next time, here’s to your bigg success!

I Want to Start a Home-Based Business. How Do I Make Sure It’s Legitimate?

With tough times, people are looking for ways to either save a little or make a little more money. We’ve been getting more questions about part-time and/or home-based business opportunities. Specifically, we’re being asked how to tell if they’re legitimate.

Play

One of the first things to look at is what they’re promising you. Specifically …

Do they make earnings claims?

george "Many offers will tout how much you can make. Legitimate operators will do one of two things: they won’t make any claim at all, or … they will tell you both the number and percentage of people who actually earn what they’re claiming. In my experience, they’re more likely to not make any claim at all."

Some real world examples

marylynn "I did a search for “home based business opportunities.” I saw six on my screen without scrolling down. Of those six, five made an earnings claim. I saw claims like “$250 thousand or more at home”, “$500 to $8,000 per month”, and $30 to $150 thousand in 12 months”. Then I looked at the most regulated business opportunities – franchises. I typed in “franchise opportunities”. One out of the four franchise opportunities made an earnings claim and it was also one of the home-based business opportunities!"

biz_ad

We’re not saying that being a franchise automatically makes it a legitimate opportunity. Nor are we saying that just because it’s not a franchise means it’s a scam. But from these examples, you do see differences in behaviors of companies that are more regulated and those that are not.

Do they stand behind their own claims?

marylynn "I went to the site of one of the home-based business opportunities. This was the one that claimed you could make $250 thousand. I scrolled way, way, down to the bottom of the page and clicked on the tiny, little link that said 'Earnings Disclaimer'."

george "Mary-Lynn printed it out. It was in ALL CAPS. Unlike the small font used for the Earnings Disclaimer, this was in 13.5 point type. They’re covering their you-know-what."

Here are some highlights …

“ANY EARNINGS OR INCOME STATEMENTS,  OR EARNINGS OR INCOME EXAMPLES, ARE ONLY ESTIMATES OF WHAT WE THINK YOU COULD EARN.”

“ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OR REPRESENTATIONS, AS TO INCOME EARNINGS … ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED AS AVERAGE EARNINGS. TESTIMONIALS ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE.”

And our favorite part …

“WE DO NOT GUARANTEE OR IMPLY THAT YOU WILL … GET RICH, THAT YOU WILL DO AS WELL, OR MAKE ANY MONEY AT ALL. THERE IS NO ASSURANCE YOU'LL DO AS WELL.  IF YOU RELY UPON OUR FIGURES; YOU MUST ACCEPT THE RISK OF NOT DOING AS WELL.”

So they make a claim and then they disclaim their claim!
When you see this, exclaim your skepticism!

We’re NOT (sorry, we got used to seeing ALL CAPS) saying this particular example is a scam, but you would definitely want more information before proceeding.

The thing about earnings claims, at least here in the U.S., is they are required by law to disclose both the number of people and the percentage of people who are earning any amount they quote you.

So don’t be afraid to ask for documented proof of any claim. Then check out our article that describes your next steps are when investigating a business opportunity.

We Need Your Help!

Thank you so very, very much for taking time out of your day to look in, or listen in, on us. We can’t fully find the words to express how grateful we are that you give us a little bit of your most precious resource – your time. We promise that we will always try to give you something worthwhile in the five minutes or so you spend with us each day.

Play

Why we started Bigg Success
We started Bigg Success to build a community of like-minded people. People who want to succeed bigg. Bigg goal-getters we call you. Fun-loving, positive thinking people who are usually happy, but never content. Looking to live your life your way and get to the next level of success.

We’re building a community that helps each other. We’re happy to volunteer our time to moderate – to be thought-starters – but we need your help. You see …

We don’t know you as well as we want to. And we don’t hear from you as much as we’d like to.

Now people in our business tell us that this is normal. But the Bigg Success community isn’t a group of normal people. It’s full of extraordinary people. Over-achievers. People who know they were born to do something bigg and are determined to do it.

People like you.

The most important thing we know.
We know a little about a lot of things and a lot about a few things. But here’s the most important thing we know …

All of us know more than any of us.

We also know that you’re a quiet group. We know you’re busy. That’s why we keep our content as short as possible while still delivering something to take away every day.

But here’s the thing …

We can’t make bigg success better without you. Without your participation.
We’re happy to bring you our content for free – we’re not asking for money. We’re asking you to give something more valuable – just a little bit more of your time.

Because bigg success can’t be a bigger success without you. Without your input. Without your wisdom. Because as the Chinese proverb says …

“A single conversation … with a wise person is worth a month's study of books”.

And you’re that wise person we want to have a conversation with!

So here’s how you can help …

Tell us how we can help you. Tell us what you want and need from us. Tell us the answers to these questions:

  • What do you like about Bigg Success?

  • What do you think we could improve upon?
  • What would you like to learn more about?
  • What would you like to see us do differently?
  • How can we help you get to the next level of success?

Here’s how to do it now …
Share your thoughts by leaving a comment. We know a lot of you have never left a comment anywhere before, but it’s as easy as typing up an e-mail once you’ve done it.

The easiest way to find our comment box is to click on the title of the article at the top of the page and then scroll down to the bottom where you’ll see “Leave a Reply”.

You’ll notice that a name and e-mail are required. You can just use your first name or even a fake name. You can use your real e-mail address or even a fake one.  Either way, your e-mail address is NOT made public. Nor do we use it in any way or share it with anybody. This requirement just protects us from those dreaded spammers.

… and in the future.
And then, keep sharing your comments on future posts …

  • Tell us you agree or disagree … we like to hear both. Just tell us why.

  • Tell us what we missed … you’ve had experiences we haven’t had. We want to learn from you too and so does the rest of the Bigg Success community.
  • If you don’t know something, or we didn’t make it clear … ask a question.
  • If you have an answer to someone else’s question … share it with all of us.

Everyone wins.
Let’s all learn from each other so we all reach our potential. There’s no scarcity of bigg success at Bigg Success. Everyone can benefit. Everyone can win.

And yes …

RSS subscribers, iTunes subscribers, and Zune subscribers …

… we work hard to deliver our content where you want it, but we’re talking to you, too! We want to hear from all of you!

Here’s what’s in it for you …
By getting involved in the conversation, we can choose future topics and design future posts that help you with what you need help with. Content that fits your wants and needs so you get to the next level of success in your life.

We thank you so much for reading, or listening, to this post. We look forward to getting to know you better. Until next time, here’s to your bigg success!
