As we look forward to another weekend, we have a question for you. Actually, a series of them. But the first question is…

Are you rich?

We’ll come back to that one. Before you answer, ask yourself:

Assuming you can see, what is your sight worth?
Take a minute and think about all the things you see in a day.
Nature in all its beauty.
A work of art. A photo.
The joy you see reflected on the face of a close friend or family member.

If you can hear, what value do you place on that ability?
Music.
Birds.
The voice of a loved one.
Even silence.

What about your sense of smell? Is it worth anything?
Flowers as you pass by them.
Food as it cooks.
You can often even smell danger, which triggers your survival instinct.

How about your taste?
You know what sweet means. And sour.
Spicy has meaning for you.
You know when something has no taste. Or tastes bad.

What would you trade for your experiences?
Think about how much you’ve grown over time.
For just a few seconds, think about a low time and how much you learned.
Remind yourself of your highest highs.

How much would you take to give up the people in your life?
If you’re married, your spouse. If you’re attached, your significant other.
What about your children, if you have them?
How about your parents?
Even if they have passed, what are the memories of them worth?
What would you exchange for all of this?

Are they worth $10,000? $100,000? $1,000,000? Much, much more?

So we return to our original question:

Are you rich?

If you can’t steal away for a day, steal away for an hour

One way to do that is to take a daycation – spend a day enjoying one of your favorite activities. Take in a ball game. Go for a hike. Enjoy a drive.

Sometimes you can't take an entire day away from work. Synergize – look for a way to fit in some fun with the work even if it’s just for an hour!

We find it therapeutic to be around bigg water. So after a few meetings recently in Chicago, we spent time walking along Lake Michigan before driving home.

Experience nature with all your senses

When you do stop to enjoy nature, use all of your senses to really take it in. Looking out, we could see almost nothing but water.

There was a sail boat on the horizon; a seagull bobbing on the waves.

We could hear the waves, coming into shore in rhythm and washing back out.

We could feel the breeze, the moisture in the air and the warmth of the sun. A splash from a wave hit our hands. It was cold!

Every once in a while, there was that fishy smell with which we’re all familiar. It’s a reminder of the life we can’t see beneath the surface.

As we breathed in the smell of the air, the taste in our mouth changed.

It was wonderful. It makes your problems seem insignificant when you experience a body of water as massive as this.

It's always hard to leave, but we were re-energized in a short time because we really took it all in with all of our senses.

Bigg goal-getters give their all to achieve their bigg dreams. But you have to take time to "stop and smell the roses" (or the fish) to keep pushing towards bigg success.

Tap into your creative side. Here are seven ways to do just that:

#1 – Read a magazine
You may not have time to ready a book, but you can certainly devour an article or two. Pay attention to the magazine’s design and layout. Also study the words and the writing style.

#2 – Go shopping
Pay attention to how manufacturers package their products. How retailers display them. How they promote special deals and new items. The way they group products together. Where things are located in the store.

#3 – Visit an art museum
Study a particular work. What is the artist saying? How does he or she convey it? What colors and textures did they use?

#4 – Spend time with kids
See the world through their eyes. Learn how to explore like they do.

#5 – Listen to great music
What does it make you feel? How do the lyrics and the music fit together? If it’s classical music, listen closely to the crescendos. If you’re listening to jazz, take in the improvisational solos and the crispness of each note.

#6 – Go to a nice restaurant
Look at how their menu is designed. How the staff presents the entrees. How they display the food on your plate. The design of the restaurant itself.

#7 – Write
Taking a note from the excellent book, The Artist’s Way, write down anything and everything that comes to your mind. Get in touch with yourself. Don’t edit or analyze. Just write whatever you think, whether it’s good or bad.

Consider going somewhere with a lot of activity. Use your senses to write down what you see, hear, feel, and smell.
