The Best Thing to Give

Discover the best thing to give to your enemy, your opponent, your friend, your child, your father, your mother, yourself, and to all mankind.

We discussed giving on this episode of The BIGG Success Show podcast. Here’s a summary of that discussion.

Happy Thanksgiving! Not only is it a wonderful day for family, food, and fun – it also kicks off the most wonderful time of the year, as originally sung by Andy Williams

Thanksgiving is often considered a selfless act. Of course, when done right, it is. It is often thought of as self-reflective. It’s passive. No – Thanksgiving is active. Even when your body is still, your mind is in motion. It creates an emotion.

That is why, according to a study, people who practice thankfulness are more likely to achieve their goals. Further, research shows that giving benefits both the giver and the receiver!

So, it seems only natural for us to discuss thanks and giving!

Thanks!

So first of all, we’d like to take this opportunity to say “Thank YOU” for all of your support. There’s no way for us to fully express how much your kind words, your suggestions, and your participation mean to us.

And we get paid BIGG dividends because we get to see you grow. And we grow too!

A couple of weeks ago, we did a show celebrating 12 years of BIGG Success. And to kick off our next 12 years, we aired Podcast Episode 1,000 last week!

It’s been quite a ride. It certainly hasn’t been easy. But nothing worthwhile ever is, right?

Yet we have so much to be grateful for. We feel so blessed to get to do the work we love.

We feel doubly blessed because we get to do that work with each other. While many people speculate that they could never work with their spouse, it works for us.

As we always say: If it works for you, it works.

Giving

And second, since Thanksgiving is followed by the season for giving, we’d like to share a great quote about giving.

It’s by one of our favorites, Benjamin Franklin. He said:

“The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.”

That’s a great sentiment. It raised questions for us as we begin to think about the year ahead. See how you feel about our takeaways. We asked ourselves:

  • How can my heart be more loving this year?
  • How can my mind be more open, to pay more attention to people, so I can give them what they need?

For example:

– when my co-worker needs a compliment
– when a stranger needs a smile
– when my boss needs a solution, rather than a problem

This quote reminded us that, at Thanksgiving and all the year through, the two of us need to count our blessings and know we are blessed. Then, we can get out of our own heads, so we can share those blessings with others.

What do you think is the best thing for you to give this year?

Chime in with your thoughts.

Here’s to your BIGG success!
