You Need Three Legs to Be a Success

You need 3 legs for BIGG SuccessBIGG success is life on your own terms. It’s about taking control to build the life of your dreams.

It begins with understanding your role. You have 100% ownership of an incredibly important enterprise – your life.

So you are the entrepreneur in charge. Entrepreneuring is a mindset, not an occupation.

You can try standing on your own two feet. But, when you get down to the essence of a great enterprise, you realize it is a three-legged stool.

The three legs are product, marketing, and delivery.

This triad is only as good as its weakest link. And unfortunately, one of them is almost always weak.

The magic happens when you get all three working together. It’s the key to BIGG success!

We say product. We really mean service. You may think of it as your talent.

The key is to discover what you can offer to add value in the lives of other people. It’s how you begin creating value for yourself.

Your enterprise is built on this product. But the product alone isn’t enough.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the most talented person always wins. They most certainly do not.

You can have the best product in the world and fail. The failure is the result of poor marketing.

If know one knows about you and your talent, you will fail. It doesn’t matter how good you are.

You have to get the word out. You have to get noticed.

If you don’t market yourself, your talent will be wasted. You won’t create value for yourself or anyone else.

Once you have their attention, you have to deliver. It sounds so simple:

Make a promise. Keep a promise.

It is simple. But it’s not easy.

It requires follow-through and follow-up.

That’s where the difficulty comes in. In the day-to-day rush, promises are made.

The intentions are good. But you need a system to document set up to document those promises and insure they are followed up on.

What’s your weakest leg?

The rewards go to people who get all three legs standing firm. What’s your weakest leg?

Identify the factors contributing to the weakness.
Then brainstorm for solutions to make it more solid.
Develop a plan of action and then…
Make it so!

So you make more money, more dependably. That’s BIGG success!

When Will You Be a Success?

image of sunset for post that ponders when you will be a success

You work and work and work.
When will you be a BIGG success?

Listen to this post! Click a player to hear George & Mary-Lynn on The BIGG Success Show Podcast.

Day after day. Week after week. You push and push and push.
When will you reach BIGG success?

You try and try and try. Again and again and again.
When will you be a BIGG success?

You learn and learn and learn.
When will you finally reach BIGG success?

You do everything every expert tells you to do.
When will it happen for you?
When will you be able to live the life of your dreams?

Screw that, when will you be able to live like a normal person?
When will you have weekends to yourself?
When can you get at least part of your evenings back?

Success seems so close

At times, success seems so close. You know it is.
But you don’t really KNOW it is. You HOPE it is.

You hope, beyond all hope, that – the next time you pull yourself up, the next time you try again – the next time will bring BIGG success.

So you dust yourself off. You work up the courage. You go for it.

And still you come up short.

Discouragement. That doesn’t even begin to describe it.
You are dejected. You want to crawl into a cave and cry.
You’re so tired. Sleep. Maybe you just need some sleep.

So you struggle to get to sleep. You’re scared. But you finally drift off.

The next day you wake up. You’re still discouraged, but at least that overwhelming feeling that your world was collapsing around you has passed.

You know you have to act. Action crushes worry. So you do act.

Maybe today will be different.
But it isn’t.

So you try again tomorrow.
With the same result.
When will you be a BIGG success?

When doubt enters

You see others succeed. It seems like it came easy.
How did they do it? What do they have that you don’t have?

Maybe you’re just not lucky.
Maybe you were never destined to succeed. Maybe the status quo is your lot in life. Maybe God has conspired against you, instead of for you.

Belief has turned to doubt. You doubt yourself. You doubt everything.

You never knew it would be this hard. If you did, you wouldn’t have tried. But here you are.

You never know

So you keep plugging away. You keep going. You keep adapting.

Because you never know when you will be a BIGG success until you are a BIGG success.

You just know you will. At some point in time.

As long as you don’t quit. History has shown us that people often quit just before success. They finally run out of fuel. They just can’t do it anymore.

A perfect process

This is a game of belief and endurance.

As long as you can maintain the belief you can succeed, you’re still in the game.

If you persevere, you will reach BIGG success. You just don’t know when.

So you must keep pushing. And once you hit BIGG success, you’ll realize how perfect the process is.

Each step of the way, you learned something that ultimately led you to BIGG success.

You’ll recognize that, each step of the way, you became stronger. Your strength enabled you to conquer obstacles that keep most people from ever reaching BIGG success.

You’ll see that the joy is ever bit as much in the journey, complete with all its struggles, as it is in reaching BIGG success.

When will you reach BIGG success?

The Biggest Asset for Your Success

Your Biggest Asset for BIGG SuccessIt’s a precious thing.
It’s an asset, your biggest asset.

It grows from nothing. Nothing more than an idea.

You must invest in it.
You must protect it.
You must tend to it.
You must nurture it so it grows.

What is it?
It’s not stocks, bonds, real estate, gold, or silver.
It’s not even your own business.

It’s not time, although that is precious too.
It’s not even relationships, even though they are certainly critical.

It’s not even you, although it’s tied closely to you.

It’s your dream. Your vision of BIGG success. Life on your own terms.

Invest in it

You invest in it because it’s BIGG. It’s worthy of your attention.

But it starts small. The dream is built step-by-step, action-by-action.

Every action must build upon and/or reinforce every other action. It’s not a one-time investment. It’s a series.

So define your dream. Then take the first step.

It’s the first investment. Fortunately, it’s small.

Protect it

You must protect it because others will take it away from you if you let them. They don’t intend to hurt you. They just have different dreams. Or no dreams at all.

Outside events can take it away from you. They’ll discourage you. You must accept what you can’t control and control what you can. Above all, you must always keep moving toward your vision of BIGG success. It’s how you protect the dream – by keeping it alive.

If you’re not careful, you can take it away yourself. You can give up too early. You must always persevere. It doesn’t mean you don’t adapt. But your destination is set. You will keep driving toward it.

Tend to it

Your dream is not a “set it and forget it” proposition. You need to check on it regularly.

How does your progress compare to your expectations?
What lessons have you learned along the way?
How can you make up for any deficiencies in your progress?

Nurture it

This asset is unusual in that its growth is directly proportional to your own. The faster you grow, the faster you reach BIGG success.

So nurture it by nurturing yourself. Replenish your body, mind, and soul.

Your vision of BIGG success is your biggest asset. But like any asset that creates wealth, it starts small.

It will grow every day if you help it along. The growth compounds as you take action. Actions that lead to your BIGG success.

What will you do today to grow this precious asset?

Do You Dream of Success?

dreaming of success | BIGG SuccessT.E. Lawrence, the man whose life was turned into the movie Lawrence of Arabia, said:

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” ~ T.E. Lawrence

Do you dream by night or by day?

Everyone dreams by night. Some don’t remember it.

Some people dream by day. Those who reach BIGG success never forget it.

They are among those few people who understand the source of all great accomplishments:

An idea. A thought.

One of two three things will happen with this idea:

  • Nothing
  • It will become a fantasy
  • It will turn into a dream

BIGG success is life on your own terms. The difference between a fantasy and a dream can be summed up in one term:

The idea turns into a clear picture of a destination. You know what you want to accomplish it.

You live it in your mind.

But that’s where it ends for most people. It’s just a fantasy.

You, because you’re a BIGG goal-getter, won’t stop there. You understand the importance of living it in your mind…first.

You won’t settle for just living it there. You’ll take action.

But not just any action. Action that will move you toward your dream.

And you will stop doing any action that won’t take you there. They are a waste of your time.

And time – one of the five elements of BIGG success – is your most precious resource.

When you take the right actions, you change your reality. Sure, you’ll face obstacles. You’ll need to be persistent.

As you overcome the challenges, your dream will turn into reality. You’ll live it the second time; this time in the real world you dreamed of creating.

That’s BIGG success!

5 Biggest Regrets in Life

book page | BIGG SuccessThere’s a new book coming out by Bronnie Ware, a nurse who worked with people who had been sent home to die. It’s called Regrets of the Dying.

It’s ironic – if you want to learn how to live, talk to people who are about to die. She has a great post where she summarizes the top 5 regrets of the dying.

We want to share them with you today.

Hear George & Mary-Lynn share the 5 regrets on The BIGG Success Show Podcast. Click a player to listen.

1) “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

The #1 regret sounds a lot like our definition of BIGG success. BIGG success is life on your own terms. You and you alone are the entrepreneur of a very special enterprise – your life. You have to take control so you have no regrets.

She makes an interesting point – her patients apparently realized less than half of their dreams. One of the reasons she cited for the shortfall is choices. It’s the choices they made or didn’t make.

It’s the life you choose. Too many people conform too much to other people’s expectations. The choices you make or don’t make determine your outcome.

Another interesting point is that health equals freedom. She says dying people wished they had pursued their dreams while they still could, while they still had their health.

If you put off everything until you have the time, you may not have the health to enjoy it.

2) “I wish I didn’t work so hard.”

She said every single man she cared for cited this regret. She hastens to add that her patients largely grew up in an era where women were not breadwinners.

We think that one of the great lessons of the Great Recession is really a reminder. Material possessions not only don’t make us happy; they may actually keep us from being happy.

We have to work more to pay for them. So we have less time for people and projects we love.

We get a short-term bump in happiness. But it comes at the expense of long-term fulfillment.

BIGG success is life on your own terms.

You don’t have to keep up with your neighbors.

You don’t have to live like a celebrity.

You may live more by buying less so you work less.

3) “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.”

Keeping peace with others means little if it leaves you with no peace of mind.

Remember, when you express your feelings, the good people in your life will care. They want you to feel good.

The people who don’t care? Well, you probably know what needs to be done there for your own peace of mind.

4) “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.”

We believe that, ultimately, life is about two things: relationships and experiences. Experiences with people you love.

Once again, you need to reach out to these people before it’s too late. While you still have your health. While you can both still enjoy the time together.

5) “I wish I had let myself be happier.”

Bronnie says, “Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice.” How true.

Based on what she learned from her patients, she warns us to not get stuck in old patterns and habits. Don’t be afraid of change. Laugh. Be silly again.

We’ve talked many times before about the importance of maintaining your child-like nature.

Note the term – child-like, not childish.

We’re so afraid of looking immature that we don’t play.

We’re so serious that we completely miss out on the fun.

We’re so worried about being embarrassed that we’re afraid to look naïve.

We’re so busy being cynical that we’ve lost our innocence.

Yes, happiness is a choice. It’s not about what you have or what you’ve done. It’s about being who you are to become all that you can be. Happiness leads to BIGG success and BIGG success leads to happiness.

Get on Bronnie’s mailing list so you can be notified when her book is available. There’s a lot more to learn.

We never regret when you spend some time with us. Thanks so much.

Until next time, here’s to your BIGG success!
