The Key to Success in Just One Step

just one step leads to BIGG SuccessWe recently talked about how to conquer a paralyzing pair of fears. We closed by implicitly sharing the key to success. Today, we want to make it explicit.

We constantly see overnight successes. Yesterday, they were just part of the crowd. Now, they are the new sensation.

From the outside looking in, it appears as if they had a meteoric rise to the top. But as we know, perceptions can be deceiving.

Look closer and you’ll see a lot of hard work. Is that the key to success?

It’s certainly part of the recipe. But it’s too complicated for our purposes here.

Upon deeper inspection, you realize that these overnight stars have usually been honing their craft for years. Is time the key to success?

Once again, it’s almost always part of the mix. It takes more than 10,000 hours as we’ve learned. But even this goes beyond the real key to success as we want to explain it today.

Is it vision or goal-setting? These are certainly important, but once again it goes beyond what we want to talk about today.

We want to keep it simple. What is the simple key to success in just one step?

That’s it! One step.

You can be a BIGG success if you just take one small step. That’s it!

Most people never really do. Or they do but then they don’t follow up with another one.

But you’re not most people. You’re a winner.

So like other people who reach BIGG success, you will take one small step, then another, and another.

You will take thousands upon thousands of step in pursuit of your dream life. But you’re not worried about how many steps it takes. You focus all of your attention on the next one.

One step at a time. One after another. Step after step, you will inch closer to the success you dreamed of.

You will face obstacles along the way. You may step over them, through them, or around them. It doesn’t matter. The results will be the same. You will get by them one step at a time.

You will get frustrated and even fearful at times. Don’t worry. Just take one small step.

You will grow tired. Take a break, relax, and refresh yourself. Then take one small step.

What one small step will you take today?

How You Can Change the World

change the world with these characteristics | BIGG SuccessNear the end of the movie Oh God, God (played by George Burns) ended up on the witness stand. He is testifying for Jerry (John Denver).

Jerry has been sued by a televangelist for slander. He decides to fight the lawsuit.

And he asks God to be his star witness. Here’s what God said in closing:

“I know how hard it is in these times to have faith. But maybe if you could have the faith to start with, maybe the times would change.

You could change them. Think about it. Try.

And try not to hurt each other. There’s been enough of that. It really gets in the way.

I’m a God of very few words and Jerry’s already given you mine. However hopeless, helpless, mixed up and scary it all gets, it can work.

If you find it hard to believe in me, maybe it would help you to know that I believe in you.”

Brilliant!

The starting point of all BIGG success

The starting point of all BIGG success is an act of faith.

Faith in a power greater than yourself.
Faith in your ultimate destiny.
Faith in yourself.
Faith in your abilities.
Faith in your ability to learn and adapt.

It’s an active faith, not a passive one.
You don’t just sit back and hope things change.
You take action because you have faith.

Because you act with faith, times change. Your economy improves.

Others do the same. Their economy improves. Individual by individual, economies change.

As individual economies change, neighborhoods change.
As neighborhoods change, towns and cities change.
As they change, states change.
As states change, regions change.
As regions change, countries change.
As countries change, the world changes.

You can change the world! There is tremendous power in individuals acting with faith to change their own personal economy.

But God isn’t through yet…

The important partner of faith

In His testimony, He added a basic ethical principle: As you change your personal situation, try not to hurt others.

But ethical principles don’t set ideals. They establish the baseline.

We should seek more. The second great commandment is “love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love your neighbor and you will be loved.
Give to your neighbor and you will be receive even more.
Add value to your neighbor’s life and create value for yourself.

It all starts with you. You’re here to do something special. God believes you can do it!

Act with faith and love and you can change the world, beginning in your corner of it. It leads to BIGG success!

Success is a Journey Full of Stories

the stories of your life for BIGG SuccessHere’s a fun, little fact you may not know. Have you ever wondered why the floors of a building are called “stories”?

It goes all the way back to the fourteenth century, according to Word Detective. Back then, building practices called for a row of paintings or sculptures on each floor which told a story.

Hence, the levels of a building came to be called “stories”. It’s the reason why many churches have stained glass windows.

BIGG success is reached one floor at a time. You won’t find an express elevator that takes you to the top. There’s not even an escalator.

You have to personally climb the stairway to BIGG success. You do it one level at a time. You get to the next level by taking the next step.

It’s not easy. Matter of fact, that’s too much of an understatement – it’s downright hard at times.

You’ll get tired. You’ll feel like you’ve used your last ounce of energy. You’ll get discouraged.

But you won’t be defeated. Somehow, some way, you’ll keep climbing. Step after step. Floor after floor. Until you reach your dream.

But here’s some consolation for the journey: You’re creating a story, your story. You’re not a one-hit wonder. Just like the buildings of our ancestors – you’re developing a series of stories, one layered on top of the next.

Question: What’s a story without conflict? Answer: Boring!

BIGG success is life on your own terms. It’s a destination, a point you’re trying to reach, a dream you want to live out for real.

But success is a journey too. It’s a journey that prepares you, each step of the way, for your ultimate success.

You will face strife on the journey to success. The strife will make you stronger. It will prepare you for the BIGG things ahead for you.

So keep climbing. Keep building. Press on. So you’ll live happily ever after. It leads to BIGG success! The end.

How to Be Happy Today

ways to be more happy | BIGG SuccessIn her wonderful book, The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want, Sonja Lyubomirsky tells you how to be happy today.

She shares twelve simple activities to attract happiness. We’ve listed them here for you along with our thoughts on each one.

1) Expressing gratitude

If you haven’t done so already, start today building a habit of gratitude. Be thankful for all your riches. Research has shown that gratitude leads to reaching your goals.

2) Cultivating optimism

We all have a tendency one way or the other. Listen carefully to yourself. If you tend to put a pessimistic spin on things, break the habit. Optimism brings many benefits.

3) Avoiding overthinking and social comparison

Comparing yourself to others will cost you now and in the future. If you stack up favorably, you may get overconfident. You may not push as hard. If others are doing better than you, you may feel disheartened.

Stop looking at others. Look only at your personal and professional progress and take action accordingly.

4) Practicing acts of kindness

When you help people, you help yourself. It’s like a drug. In fact, the term “helper’s high” has been coined to describe the endorphin rush experienced by acts of kindness.

5) Nurturing social relationships

Life comes down to two things: relationships and experiences. Sure, you can experience things alone. Some of the time, you should!

But wouldn’t you rather share your invigorating experiences with people you love? Building relationships is one of the most important activities if you want to reach BIGG success.

6) Developing strategies for coping

The single, biggest difference between people who reach BIGG success and those who don’t is perseverance. Everybody runs full-speed ahead into a wall from time to time. Everyone has bad days.

All of us feel discouraged at times. The most successful find ways to deal with it.

7) Learning to forgive

It’s not easy to forgive someone who has seriously wronged you. It is necessary, however. As long as you don’t forgive them, you hold on to them. You’re stuck in the past.

Move on. Get rid of this mental clutter.

8) Increasing flow experiences

Flow is when you get so caught up in an activity that the world goes into suspension. Time passes without a care. You are completely immersed in the task at hand.

If you can’t find this flow in your work, get a hobby. In fact, get a hobby anyway. It’s what the most successful people do.

9) Savoring life’s joys

While this one is closely related to the first one, there is a reason to include it separately. It emphasizes the importance of moving out of the complex world to see things more simply. It will help you rediscover your creativity!

10) Committing to your goals

Losers make promises; winners make commitments. We discussed this a little bit under the sixth point. But the key here is to understand the link between your goals and your vision.

11) Practicing Religion and Spirituality

You are a three-in-one: body, mind, and spirit. You need to feed all three if you want to achieve the most happiness. Believe in a power greater than yourself. And realize that peace on earth begins with you.

12) Taking Care of Your Body

We get busy. We often fail to take care of our bodies the way we should. The two of us struggle with this one as we press for our own BIGG success.

But then we remind ourselves, that it only takes five minutes. It may not be ideal, but it’s better than nothing!

We like the fact that these twelve activities were all framed in the active tense. The song tells us, “Don’t worry, be happy.”

The better way of thinking is: Take action. Be happy today. Now that’s BIGG success!

What makes you happy?
