How to Have a Three-Day Weekend Every Week

weekend giveaway | BIGG SuccessWe really wanted to make the title to this post:

“How to Have an Extra Day Off Every Week Without Working More Hours in the Remaining Four Days and Without Sacrificing Productivity.”

But it seemed a little long!

We have a three-day weekend coming up here in the United States. It’s Labor Day.

It got us thinking:

What if you had more time for leisure?

What if you didn’t need to labor so much?

What if every weekend was a three-day weekend?

It’s not such a novel idea. Frank Bettger did it. More employers are considering a four-day work week.

What would it take for you?

You could work more hours over four days. It’s a step in the right direction if you want more time for play, one of the five elements of BIGG success.

Your leisure time is bunched up instead of being spread over the week.

But it’s still just a tradeoff. Why settle for a quid pro quo?

So ask yourself a question to get to the crux of the issue:

What if you could be more productive?

Is it possible to get ten hours worth of results in eight hours? Or twelve hours in ten hours, depending on how long you typically work.

This is the question we often ask ourselves. And we know it’s possible. Or more accurately stated, we won’t accept that it’s impossible.

So we have to figure out how.

Conduct a time audit

We’ve started by measuring our activities. So we’re doing a time audit.

It may not sound like fun. But it’s temporary. And an incredible tool to discover waste.

Every fifteen minutes, we record what we’re doing at that moment. We set an alarm to remind us that it’s time.

We’re going to do it over a two week period. We feel this will cover a typical week for us.

Sure, it’s a bit of a pain. Sure, we could be doing something else.

But when we’re done, we’ll know better if we’re wasting time. And if we are, we’ll know where.

Then we can make corrections. And move on to testing something else to be more productive. It leads to BIGG success!

How have you increased your productivity?

The Key to Success

the key to success | BIGG SuccessWe’re writing this post to ourselves. We hope it helps you too.

The key to success is focused, consistent, daily activity.

Busy does not equal successful. Hard work alone won’t get you anything but tired.

You have to get results. You get the results you want by focusing on activities that move you to the next level.

Stop doing everything else!

There’s a tremendous opportunity cost to wasting time. You can’t get the time back.

You’ll always be a step behind where you could have been.

But don’t forget – down time is not a waste of time. It’s important to stoke your energy reserve.

So make sure you eat right, exercise and get plenty of sleep. And don’t just feed your body – feed your mind and soul as well.

You’re passionate about what you do. But passion is overrated.

Let’s face it – there are days when you don’t feel like doing it. And it’s easy to coast for a short time since you’re your own boss.

But on today, off tomorrow leads to nowhere. You must operate at 100% every single day.

That creates momentum. Momentum is a powerful force that can work for you or against you.

So on those days when you just don’t feel the vibe, think about momentum. Then act!

Pick one important thing on your to-do list. Make it something somewhat simple and quick. And get it done.

Then pick another one. Check it off.

Next, get away from your desk for a few minutes. Stretch or do some calisthenics. Then get back to your pursuit of BIGG success.

You can be a BIGG success today. In fact, you must.

BIGG success doesn’t just happen. You make it happen.

You make it happen today. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Today.

Focused, consistent, daily activity creates positive momentum. Positive momentum compounds over time into BIGG success!
