Hollywood’s Dirty Little Secret…Exposed

hollywood dirty little secrets exposed
A common misperception about Hollywood, fame, and fortune keeps many people stuck in the status quo.

We discussed three things you need to know to get rich and famous on The BIGG Success Show today. Here’s a summary of that discussion.

This show was inspired by a news story about Geoffrey Owens, the Cosby Show actor who played Elvin – the husband of the family’s oldest daughter. He was spotted bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s.

Many thought this revealed a fall from grace.

Shaming ensued, but support endured.

The story reveals a dirty little secret about Hollywood – one which makes actors and entertainers and celebrities more endearing, because we see they struggle just like the rest of us in pursuing our respective callings.

On the show, we discussed three things you need to know if you want to be rich and famous.

Listen to this post! Click play to hear George, Mary-Lynn and Jesse on The BIGG Success Show Podcast. (Duration 5:10)

If you’ve watched the Carl’s Jr. commercial with Heidi Klum, you’ve seen Jesse LeBeau. The ad is a take-off of The Graduate. Jesse plays Benjamin, Dustin Hoffman’s character in the movie.

We met Jesse at a conference and loved his story – how a small town boy is turning his love of basketball into a Hollywood career.

He talked with us on our longer form podcast, Entreprenurturing™ Sessions. We shared a few clips of that interview on The BIGG Success Show today.

Here’s a summary:

  • Jesse says he’s “built like Justin Bieber.” Yet he was able to play college basketball through “pure determination and hustle.”
  • The more people told him he couldn’t do it, the more determined he was to do it. Ultimately, he turned a perceived liability into an asset.
  • After he got his degree, he headed off to Hollywood. He used basketball to break in by finding out where actors, directors and producers played. He says “basketball was kind of an equalizer.”
  • Now he’s starring in a national commercial. And we see more bright things in his future. He’s going to be a BIGG success!

You can hear our full inspiring interview with Jesse simply by signing up for a free membership in our Entreprenurturing™ Center. Join today for instant access!

Step 4-Find Abundance in a World of Scarcity

abundanceBad news is the news. We hear a lot about the scarcity. We don’t hear so much about the abundance.

That’s why we’re talking about steps you can take to live abundantly. We’re ready for Step 4:

___

___

Eliminate "zero-sum" thinking

One of the reasons we don't feel more abundance is because we've bought into the mindset that everything is a zero-sum game. Somebody has to lose in order for anybody to win.

Hollywood says so.

Our media tells us that it's the case.

Politicians don’t get it.

Successful entrepreneurs get it.

Bigg success is life on your own terms. Implicit in that definition is that you are the entrepreneur of your life.

You own it. You are in charge. There’s something successful entrepreneurs understand that many people – including the elite in our society – just don’t get.

Entrepreneurs know that they win second.

In order for them to win, at least some portion of society must win first. They create fortunes because they understand that there are very few zero-sum games in the world.

Think about it. In most cases, we do business with people because it's mutually beneficial. If it weren't, we would stop doing business together.

So if we take the "zero-sum" attitude, we won't create value. If one party has to lose so the other party can win, nothing is added to society.

Bill Gates got it. He became the richest person in the world because a large number of people felt that Microsoft’s products made their lives and / or their businesses better.

Some argue about his contribution. That will be true of your contribution as well. You will face critics if you do anything of any significance.

But you won’t care.

You will let the market vote. You will know that you have helped people win because they will vote with their dollars. They choose to work with you because you make their lives better in some way.

Warren Buffett got it. Like Bill Gates, he has ascended to the top of the list of the richest people in the world. He did it by delivering returns to his investors that they couldn’t achieve on their own.

To live abundantly, we must first discard the zero-sum game mentality.

Create wealth by creating value

The best way to do that is one relationship at a time. We must adopt a win / win attitude in every relationship we have. When we do that we create value.

The value of any relationship is the emotional goodwill you have created in that relationship. The sum of the value of all of your relationships is the value of your network.

Now and in the foreseeable future, the greatest wealth will be created by people with the best networks. Create value – and therefore abundance – for other people and you'll find abundance in your own life.

Now, please understand that it doesn't happen instantly. In the economy of a previous generation, you had to plant in the spring if you wanted to harvest in the fall. It may take days, weeks, months, or even years for you to see the result.

However, if all you see when you look at people is dollar signs, you won't harvest the opportunities presented in the years ahead. You won't create wealth. You won't feel abundance.

Put other people first. Look for a win for them with all the fervor you look for a win for you. That’s a mindset that leads to bigg success.

We’re thrilled that you checked in with us today. Thanks so much.

What is Bigg Success?

life on your own terms When you study anything, it’s important to understand the definitions. So today, we’re happy to announce that we have refined the definition for bigg success:

___

___

Bigg success is life on your own terms.

___

marylynnI just love that because it is so empowering. Who else can tell us how to live our lives?

___

___

georgeIt’s not about money or material possessions. Or it can be. It’s not judgmental. If it works for you, it works!

___

Your terms, not others

We don’t always live our lives on our own terms. We live by the terms set by others.

Our families and friends, with all good intentions, have their thoughts about how we should live.

Society sets expectations of us. Hollywood and Madison Avenue paint a picture of how our lives should look. Teachers, bosses and others guide us to the life they want us to live.

Sometimes we even place demands upon ourselves that aren’t congruent with what we really want.

Taking charge

Enough is enough. We must take our lives back. We must claim the most precious gifts that we have been given.

To choose who we are and who we become.

To live the life we dream of living.

To find our path to happiness without regard for what others think.

To feel in control no matter what situation we face.

When we feel that we have power over our own lives, we can relish in every moment even if things aren’t going exactly as planned.

Not a selfish endeavor

Life on your own terms sounds selfish, but it’s not. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

It means figuring out how to get from where you are now to where you want to be for the benefit of yourself and the people you care about.

How we’re doing it

We understand this definition well because we’re living it.

___

marylynnI worked in the corporate world. I had outgrown the place where I was working and I didn’t want to move for two reasons: I was engaged to George and the industry I worked in was experiencing troubles so I thought a move would be risky.

___

___

georgeI’ve been a passionate business owner for years and teach entrepreneurship at our local University. I saw the internet as a great place for learning and a way to combine those two passions. I also have a passion for a certain young lady named Mary-Lynn and working together seemed like a slam dunk!

___

So we created an opportunity for ourselves – Bigg Success – to be partners both personally and professionally. It works for us, but it doesn’t work for everyone. It’s how we’re living life on our own terms.

Bigg success is, and always will be, a developing concept. That’s the nature of bigg success!

It’s still about personal and professional development. We think by defining bigg success the way we have, we can have a richer conversation.

We will discover new things which we’ll share with you. We hope you will share your knowledge with us and the entire Bigg Success community.

Because all of us know more than any of us.

Start by telling us what life on your own terms means to you.

You can share that with a comment below, by calling us at 888.455.BIGG or by e-mailing us at bigginfo@biggsuccess.com

When you share, whether by writing it or speaking it, you get the ideas out of your head. So you learn and so will everyone else in the community.

By all of us sharing, we learn from each other so we all reach bigg success in our own lives even faster!

Thanks so much for reading our post today.
