The BIGG Success Show Podcast Summary

Focus groups may serve a purpose but today business owners can conduct a focus group every day on Twitter or with your e-mail list. In many cases, your customers are craving your attention!

Many business owners feel like social media means giving up control. Scott says they need to realize they never had control – only the veil of control.

We live in a new world of public customer service. That’s awesome for great businesses. It’s horrible for companies that stink. Social media makes them smell worse!

How much would you pay for a tool that helps you:

  • listen to your market?
  • respond to your customers?
  • track your competition?

Social media is that tool and it’s FREE!

Scott shares many more great tips and insights in his book (affiliate link). We highly recommend it to you!

Scott Stratten on UnMarketing-Part 1

UnMarketing Book Cover

Today, we were thrilled to chat with Scott Stratten, President of UnMarketing. Scott helps companies engage with their customers. His viral videos have been viewed over 60 million times and he helped one client make $5 million in just 7 days.

Scott is also a speaker and the author of a fantastic new UnBook – UnMarketing: Stop Marketing, Start Engaging (affiliate link).

Listen to the show to hear the first half of the interview!

Scott says, “Marketing isn’t a task, a department or an action item. It’s every single point of engagement you have with your marketplace.”

You are the brand. You are the ambassador. Your position doesn’t matter. He tells a great story about meeting Wes – a carpet cleaner at the Wynn in Las Vegas – who is the walking definition of how to engage properly.

Scott interviewed over 1,000 business owners and found that most businesses market to the lowest level of trust, where prices are the most sensitive and competition is the most cutthroat.

Customers only use the Yellow Pages or Google search when they don’t know who else to call. Stand out from your competition. Be at the front of your customers’ minds.

Start by asking your customers three simple questions:
1. What can we stop doing?
2. What could we start doing?
3. What would you like us to continue doing?

Are you getting feedback from your customers? Are you listening and responding to your marketplace? We’ll talk about that next time when we continue our conversation with Scott. (Click here to go to Part 2)
