11 + 11 + 11 Ways to Be a Success

11-11-11 for BIGG SuccessIt’s 11.11.11. So we thought we’d share 11 + 11 + 11 = 33 ways to be a BIGG success.

11 terms

BIGG success is life on your own terms. Here are 11 terms that help you take control to build the life that fits you perfectly.

1) Believe:
Belief is hope internalized. Believe you will reach BIGG success. Then let your mind go to work to help you get there.

2) Design: Your purpose is the place where your passions, proficiencies, and preferences all intersect with opportunity. Find your reason for being.

3) Live: Always remember that your career is part of your life, not the other way around. Your career is what you do, not who you are. Work to live!

4) Love: Relationships are critical to a fulfilling life. Love is a verb. So actively show the people around you how much you care about them.

5) Innovate: Innovation is imagination in action. Don’t accept the status quo. Discover ways to make your corner of the world a better place.

6) Act: You won’t fulfill your purpose just by thinking. Action turns intangible thoughts into tangible results.

7) Learn: Action creates advantage. But only if you learn from the situation at hand. The future belongs to the learning, not the learned.

8) Adapt: The whole point of learning is to know when to adapt. In uncertain times, flexibility is critical to your BIGG success.

9) Endure: Most people fail because they give up too soon. Remember that the journey is part of the reward. Press on!

10) Experience: Try new things. Go to new places. Experiences make you more interesting to others and ramp up your creativity.

11) Give: Giving implies abundance. So tell your brain you have more than enough by sharing some of what you have.

Martin Luther King sermons

Be the Best of Whatever You Are

Martin Luther King sermons

One of our favorite historical people is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We continue to be inspired and informed by his words.

So we thought we’d share a jewel from a sermon he called The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life.

In this excerpt, he talks about the importance of striving for excellence:

“When I was in Montgomery, Alabama, I went to a shoe shop quite often, known as the Gordon Shoe Shop. And there was a fellow in there that used to shine my shoes, and it was just an experience to witness this fellow shining my shoes. He would get that rag, you know, and he could bring music out of it. And I said to myself, ‘This fellow has a Ph.D. in shoe shining.’

What I’m saying to you this morning, my friends, even if it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, go on out and sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures; sweep streets like Handel and Beethoven composed music; sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry; sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will have to pause and say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.’

If you can’t be a pine on the top of a hill

Be a scrub in the valley—but be

The best little scrub on the side of the hill,

Be a bush if you can’t be a tree.

If you can’t be a highway just be a trail

If you can’t be the sun be a star;

It isn’t by size that you win or fail—

Be the best of whatever you are.”

Remembering Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs | BIGG SuccessYesterday, “life’s change agent” called Steve Jobs to a meeting.

That’s how he described death in his commencement address to Stanford graduates in 2005.

His point, in his own words:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

We didn’t know Steve Jobs personally. Yet he personally affected us. Such is the nature of real entrepreneurs.

They impact the lives of hundreds, or thousands, or even millions of people. Not as an individual, but through their business.

Steve Jobs was the epitome of an entrepreneur. Not just in business, but in his attitude about life.

You see that in one of our favorite quotes by the man we’ll never forget:
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do….”

Here’s to you Steve Jobs! You will be missed!

Insight and Inspiration for Your Money Problems

We’ve only done this once before to the best of our knowledge. But to start the week, we’ve put together a story in quotes.

We hope to offer some insight and inspiration for those who are experiencing money problems. We hope you enjoy!

You cannot defeat me.'” ~ Ann Landers
  • “Ninety percent of the world’s woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailties, and even their real virtues. Most of us go almost all the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves.” ~ Sydney J. Harris
